Accessing Your MyUNH (IT ID) Account
UNH offers many online services that you can access using your MyUNH (IT ID) account. Some of these services are Webcat (to check your application status, update your mailing address, register for courses, pay bills, and check grades), Blackboard (for coursework and assignments), and to access your UNH email account.
How you get your MyUNH ID, and how you access the various services, depends on what your status is with UNH. Select the topic below that best describes your status.
- First Time MyUNH (IT ID) Account Activation
Important Note on Various UNH Accounts and IDs
Your MyUNH (IT ID) account ID is not your UNH Student ID Number and it is not related to any temporary web application accounts you may have made when submitting an online application. In general your MyUNH ID is for accessing self-service tools online and using WEBCAT, and your UNH Student ID Number is used whenever you need to interact with various academic and administrative offices and services at UNH.
Activating Your MyUNH Username (IT ID)
Your MyUNH account ID is created automatically for you the day after your application is submitted and processed in the database. It can take up to 2-7 business days for us to process a submitted application, depending on the time of year.
Once your application has been entered and processed, you can get your MyUNH username. Go to the MyUNH Portal (Blackboard) and select the "Login Help" tab and choose the "New User?" link. Enter your assigned UNH Student ID Number (you can also use your social security number, if you provided it on your application, and have not yet received your assigned UNH Student ID) and your birth date. This will give you your MyUNH username (IT ID) and will let you reset your password. Once you have your username and password you can log in to check your application status.
Getting Your UNH Student ID Number
Once you submit your application, and have it processed, you will be assigned a randomly generated nine digit number that begins with a "9". This will be your UNH Student ID Number for as long as you are at UNH. This number will be automatically emailed to you after your application has been processed, to whatever email address you provided on your application. Should you be admitted it will also be included in your admit letter. Besides needing this ID to activate your MyUNH account it will also be required whenever doing academic, student or administrative related activities at UNH.
More Help
You can see the UNH IT Email Website for more information about your UNH email account. Also be sure to check out the UNH Student IT Guide for general Student IT resources. For help on Blackboard see the MyUNH/Blackboard Guide.
- Previous UNH Student Now Applying to Grad School
Account Status Information
In most cases if you attended UNH in the past then you probably already have a MyUNH (IT ID) username. Go to MyUNH (Blackboard) and select the "Login Help" tab and select either the "New User?" or "Need Help Logging in?" link to obtain your MyUNH username and/or reset your password. Once you have your Username and Password you can log in to check your status. If you have been inactive for a long time you will need to call the UNH Help Desk at 603-862-4242 and ask them for help and reactivating your account.
Once you login to the system your previous status at UNH (length of admission, undergraduate, grad student applying to a different program, etc.) will determine what parts of the system you can access. If you are not currently an active student then you will only be able to access services available for new applicants. If you become an active student again you will be able to use all of the services available for active students.
If you had a previous email account with UNH that was turned off, you can reactivate it once you become an active student. You can do this through the UNH Help Desk walk-in services at the Dimond Academic Commons Information Technology Support Center (DAC ITSC) in the Dimond Library, 3rd floor. You can reach them by phone at 603-862-4242 during regular business hours.
If you attended UNH before our online systems were active it is possible that you would not have a MyUNH username (IT ID.) If you are unable to locate your username you can follow the directions for a first time user. Should you continue to have trouble please call the UNH Help Desk at 603-862-4242.
- Currently Active Graduate Student at UNH
If you are currently an active graduate student at UNH you can access your MyUNH account by using your current MyUNH username (IT ID). If you have not yet activated your Webcat account go to http://blackboard.unh.edu, select the "Login Help" tab and follow the directions under "Need help logging in?" Once you have your Username and Password you can log in to check your status.
Should you still need help then please contact the UNH Help Desk at 603-862-4242 or visit their walk-in service area at the Dimond Academic Commons Information Technology Support Center (DAC ITSC) in the Dimond Library, 3rd floor.
- Checking your Application Status
How to Check Your Status
To check your status go to http://myunh.unh.edu and select Login. Enter your Username and Password and select Login. (Instructions on how to obtain your username and password are included under first time users.) Once you have logged in you can access Webcat by selecting the "Webcat/Student Services" tab.
Now select the "Admissions" link from the list and then select the application you want to view under the "Processed Applications" header. This will bring up an application summary that will let you see what, if anything, you are missing to complete your application. (If an item on the list does not have a received date next to it we have yet to receive it.)
If you submitted an application but you do not see any applications listed under the "Processed Applications" header it most likely means that we have yet to process your application. Please be sure to allow 2-7 business days before checking your status. If it has been more than a week and you still are not able to check your status please do not hesitate to contact our office.
During our busiest time of year (Late January to mid-March) it can take 2-3 weeks before documents sent in the mail are processed and entered on your application - so if you see your application is incomplete and you know you mailed in material keep in mind the 2-3 week time frame and be patient about calling our office as there is a good chance it just hasn't been processed yet.
Application Status Explanations
- WO: Online application was submitted but has yet to be processed, reviewed, and entered by our office.
- I: Application is incomplete
- C: Application is complete and waiting to be reviewed.
- D: Decision has been made
Application Decisions
- 14: Application is currently under review by the department
- 19: Waiting on final Dean Approval. (Department has made a decision, application is back at Grad School for final processing)
- 70, 72, 73, 74: Admitted to Graduate School (could be on a provisional or conditional basis)
- 31: Application was denied
Should you be admitted and accept the offer, you will then be granted more access to student services through your MyUNH account. You will be able to register for courses, check your grades, pay your bills, look at your schedule, get an email address, and update some of your personal records, all online. You can also update your contact mailing address as well (the current warning on that page only applies to undergraduate students).
Admission Decisions
If you are admitted you can now accept your offer online through Webcat. Please see the Online Admit Response form for details.
- Email at UNH - How to Activate and Use Your UNH Email Account
Activating Your UNH Email Account
You can obtain a UNH email account once you become a student at UNH (which happens after you accept an offer of admission). Note that you must have accepted the offer of admission, and had that acceptance processed by our office (not the department) for your email account to be generated. This normally takes 1 business day from the date you accepted the offer online.
To activate your UNH email address you need to login to your MyUNH account with your assigned MyUNH ID and password (for instructions on how to activate your IT ID see the beginning of this page).
After you have logged into your MyUNH account select the "UNH Email" link from the "UNH Tools" menu on the left of the page. Follow the instructions in order to activate your email account. Should you have questions or problems please contact the UNH Help Desk at 603-862-4242.
Reactivating an Old Account
If you had a previous email account with UNH that was inactivated you can reactivate it once you become an active student again. You can do this at the UNH Help Desk walk-in services at the Dimond Academic Commons Information Technology Support Center (DAC ITSC) in the Dimond Library, 3rd floor. You can reach them by phone at 603-862-4242 during regular business hours.
Forwarding Your Email
If you do not wish to get email at your UNH Account then please be sure to FORWARD your email to your preferred account. It is your responsibility to make sure you get all email that is sent to your UNH Account - however you can do it either by using the account directly or forwarding it to some other account.
Wildcat Mail: Login to your UNH Wildcats mail account, click on the "Options" link (upper right hand corner) and select the "See all options" from the pull down menu. This brings up a page with some shortcuts for things you can do (right hand side). Click on the "Forward your e-mail". Near the bottom is the "Forwarding" section. Just enter the email address you want to forward to (optinally click the box to keep a copy) and then click on the "Save" link.
OLD CISUNIX Mail: If you are using an old CISUNIX email address (this should only apply if you are both staff and student) then you can forward your email using this link: https://webmail.unh.edu/cisunix/emailforward.html
VITAL INFORMATION - YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS
It is extremely important that you keep your email address up to date with our office. Prior to becoming a student we will use whatever email address you provided to us on your application. Once you become a student, by accepting an offer of admission, we will use your assigned UNH Email Address, which the university considers to be your official email address for all electronic communication. Correspondence relating to the status of your application, admit and deny letters, bills, reminders about registration, and academic status letters are just some of the forms of communication that will all be done by your email address.
You can check to see what we have for your address by logging into your MyUNH account, going to Webcat, and looking under the "Personal Information" tab. If you need to change your email address then email our office with the subject line "Email Update" - keeping in mind that once you are a student we will only use your UNH assigned email address.
