What is your previous academic experience?
Master of Science in Analytics & Data Science
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Bachelor of Art in History, National Taipei University
What are your professional goals?
My professional goal is to be a Data Scientist in Business Analytics or the field of Finance. That would pair well with my prior industry experience in banking.
What projects have you worked on?
My first major project is analyzing LendingClub data and finding the change of their loan criteria before IPO and after IPO.
My first group project at UNH was called “Renting or Buying”. We extracted data from Zillow and US Census and used Python to concatenate and merge data to do an in-depth analysis of the housing market while making an economic case for the comparing of renting vs buying a house. We also used predictive analytics (clustering and model fitting) to predict the number of houses sold in a month. Finally, we applied Tableau to make visualizations point out the relation between poverty, income, population with house price for renting and buying by states and counties.
More recently, I employed R Shiny to create an interactive website that filters the data by time and region to build my own website that tracks my footprint around the world. The Shiny App can be reached here
How has your time at UNH had an impact?
I have found that the professor in the program is very supportive. Since I joined the program, I have been introduced to many partners and the alumni now working in the industries. In the program, we are not just learning concepts and theories, but applying them to real issues we might face when we work in the field.
